Armadillo Marketplace - Houston, TX

January 29, 2011

For over a year the IWE has been regularly (once a month) running shows at the Armadillo Marketplace, which is a large, indoor flea market. These monthly IWE shows draw some regulars and a smattering of people who see the promo poster(s) while perusing the flea market. Well, someone from the IWE organization reasoned that if we have a free show we will attract more than just a smattering of the flea market clientele. And so the first IWE show of 2011 was open to all. The end result was (at least for half of the show) a standing room only peanut gallery - almost all of whom had little real interest in professional wrestling. This gallery of people, hereafter referred to as the "rabble", brought no additional energy to the show and since they didn't seem to be spending money on concessions, I'm guessing they brought no revenue either.

Match #1 -- Surge vs. The Panther
This Surge is most definitely NOT Matt Hardy and he seems to have a hygiene problem. According the the $2.00 IWE Wrestling Program the Panther has wrestled internationally but I'm not buying it. The rabble don't care. Panther hits a tope con hilo and you can hear crickets chirping. Surge steals the win with his legs wrapped around the ropes and receives polite applause.

Mr B. is out and insults all things Texan. The regulars give him some heat. The rabble seem to be indifferent. B moves on to insult the entire USA. The rabble seem mildly amused. Finally Mr. B insults his opponent to be for this evening. This brings out the AmeriKings (American Eagle & Chris Kings). Eagle takes the mic and announces that this year the AmeriKings are going to be serious, no more joking around. That would have probably gone over better if they weren't wearing rainbow coloured afro wigs. Eventually after much more talk we learn that Mr. B will be facing the American Eagle in a no DQ match later and that Chris Kings will be taking on V.I.P. right now.

Match #2 -- V.I.P. vs. Chris Kings
Ever the showman V.I.P. plays to the rabble. He misses his Heisman elbow drop but nobody notices. A reverse STO by V.I.P. leaves Kings vulnerable and V.I.P. locks on an elaborate submission (we'll just call it the Heisman Entanglement Hold for now) and gets the win.

Match #3 -- IWE Tag Team Championship Match
Nemesis & The Pride vs. (c) The Wrecking Crew: Mike B. Nasty & Tank Bishop
Pride and Nemesis use every rudo trick and tactic in the book but are unable to take the titles from the Wrecking Crew. The Pride gets pinned following the Wrecking Crew's two man RockBottom finisher move thing.

**INTERMISSION**

Only about half the rabble returned after the intermission. Those who did return got to see the first IWE appearance of Bolt Brady. Of course, the rabble had no idea that as Blair Spykes he has appeared here many times. Brady informs us that Blair Spykes is no more, he is Bolt Brady now and he's going to win gold. Brady's opponent for the heavyweight title this evening decides now would be a good time to make an appearance. Syn saunters to the ring escorted by a heretofore unseen masked accomplice. Syn's accomplice/bodyguard/whatever appears to be someone found wondering around the flea market. Just give him a mask and he's good to go. Anyway, Syn contends that it doesn't matter what his opponent calls himself he's still going to lose.

Match #4 -- No DQ Match
Mr. B vs. American Eagle
Eagle rushes to the ring and the fight is on. Tope con hilo by Eagle gets no noticeable reaction from the remaining rabble. Mr B. hits Eagle with what will be the first of many headshots with a garbage can lid. Some chairs and a ladder find their way into the ring. Mr. B misses a quebrada but Eagle doesn't capitalize on the mistake, instead he decides to go digging around under the ring. He comes up with cookie sheets. Moving on... Mr. B takes a nasty looking backdrop onto the aforementioned ladder. That doesn't put him away though. Now it's Eagle's turn as he takes a nasty looking FU onto a couple of chairs. If that wasn't enough Mr. B superplexes him onto a strategically placed garbage can. But it takes B too long to make the cover and the Eagle still has some life left. In fact, he screams "I won't die!" Two (2) unprotected chairshots to the head of the American Eagle. The Eagle channels his inner Hulk Hogan and begins a Hulk Up sequence. Everything, the convulsions, the punches, the big boot are all included. However, when it comes to the leg drop Mr. B just sits up causing the miss. Two (2) more unprotected chairshots to the head of the Eagle. Reverse pedigree by Mr. B puts the American Eagle away. Mr. B apparently feeling somewhat unfulfilled by the whole experience decides now would be a good time to break the Eagle's wing, er.. arm. Chris Kings is out to break that up though. Eagle is rather miraculously feeling well enough to take the mic... and promptly begins cussing, which isn't really apropos to a family show. Anyway, Eagle vows to make sure Mr. B never wrestles again.

Main Event -- IWE Heavyweight Championship Match
Bolt Brady vs. (c) Syn
Syn is once again with his mysterious (not named) masked accomplice. In fact, it is the "assistance" of the masked accomplice which puts Syn in control of the match. Bolt is so hyper all the time it's hard to tell an inspired comeback from just his normal operating speed. Springboard Codebreaker and it looks like Bolt will win the championship... but the masked accomplice is up on the apron and distracts the referee. Now as Bolt is setting up for his next big move the masked accomplice just blatantly blasts him with a chair. The referee calls for the bell and it's a No Contest finish.
Syn and the masked accomplice put a beatdown on Bolt Brady. The Wrecking Crew make the save. It is announced that next month there will be a rematch between Syn and Bolt Brady for the IWE Heavyweight Championship, and it will be a No DQ match.
