A Psychotic Break
Hooligans - Live Oak, TX
February 21, 2011
It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Live Oak, Texas. Myself and 150+ others are gathered at Hooligan's Sports Bar for ACW's February event entitled "A Psychotic Break". As usual the show starts right on time. Barry Savant is the ring announcer.
Pre-Show
Match #1 -- Kash vs. Bolt Brady
This is a speed (Brady) versus size/strength (Kash) matchup. Strength wins. Kash finishes Brady off with a vicious powerbomb. Then powerbombs Brady again, just because he can.

As he presents the participants in the upcoming match, the ever sagacious Barry informs us that the team of Athena and Davey Vega have decided to collectively be known as the Hussy Busters. He introduces the team of Super Electro and Black Rocker as La Fraternidad de Las Luchas. Actually, I had to look at his Wrestle Texas Forum posting of the ACW - Psychotic Break results to learn that name. Barry might as well have been speaking Swahili as badly as he butchered that pronunciation.
Match #2 -- Tag Team Match
Athena & Davey Vega vs. Super Electro & Black Rocker
Athena starts the match against Electro. This doesn't bode well for my new favorite Joshi wrestler. Electro dropkicks her right in the face. Finally Vega makes himself useful and helps Athena even things up. It's Black Rocker who the Hussies get in real trouble though. Nice gymnastics from Athena. Even nicer is the off the top rope double knee press she hits on Electro. Doubleteam DDT on Black Rocker knocks him out and the Hussy Busters get the three.

Main Show
Match #1 -- 4 Way Elimination Match
Big Ricky Ramida vs. Khris Wolfe vs. Just Willie vs. Berry Breeze
As a result of the Faction Warfare match (ACW-"Guilty By Association") Berry Breeze no longer wears the blue of the Smurf Nation. Now on his own, red is his color scheme of choice. Personally I don't think it's wise to wear the color of fresh meat when you're up against three rather large, opportunistic competitors. But what do I know? As for the match itself, it's a typical four man (only two legal) elimination match - the kind ACW uses often and well. Just Willie overshoots a top rope moonsault but somehow still manages to eliminate Big Ricky. Breeze eliminates Wolfe by rollup. A Sunset Bomb on Willie earns Breeze the first win of his new solo career.

Match #2 -- Athena vs. Jen Alise
I'm torn. It's a matchup between my old new favorite and my new new favorite Joshi wrestlers. Her size and strength allow Jen Alise to dominate the early action. Athena uses the classical Greco-Roman technique of smashing your opponents face into the turnbuckle to swing the momentum into her favor. Ruthlessness and viciousness are Athena's stock-in-trade as she demonstrates by curb stomping Jen Alise into the turnbuckle, twice. Young Jen Alise makes a spirited comeback though, capped off by a crossbody off the second rope. But this is Athena's day (year!) and she puts Jen Alise away with a sweet, sweet flying Ace Crusher off the top rope.

Match #3 -- Six Man Tag Team Match
The Takeover: Jaykus Plisken & "Cowboy" James Claxton & Franco D'Angelo vs. Bolt Brady & The Cali Crush: Jordan Jensen & Dax Daring
I wasn't even remotely expecting to see the California Crush guys here in ACW. I believe they wrestle predominantly in the North Texas (Dallas) area although on every previous occasion that I've seen them it has been in East Texas (Huntsville, etc...). Not that it matters because they and their ebullient tag partner Bolt Brady are here to be sacrificial lambs to the monstrosity that is The Takeover. Miss Maulie approves. Brady and co. show some offensive sparks but mostly are rotating in and out for beatings. At one point, Plisken kicks Brady's lungs into the third row. Doubleteam offense by the Crush guys opens a brief window of opportunity for the lambs, but Claxton and D'Angelo are there to slam that sucker shut.

Match #4 -- 4 Team Elimination Tag Match for the ACW Tag Team Championship
Brent Masters & Mat Fitchett vs Jason Silver & Sky Ryder vs. Rachel Summerlyn & Jessica James vs. (c) The Smurf Nation: JC Bravo & Chingo Smurf
JC Bravo and Mat Fitchett start the match with some nice matwork, then decide it's easier to just kick the holy hell out of each other. After Masters and Fitchett send Silver and Sky Ryder scurrying to the outside, Rachel and Jessica seize the moment and attack. The Smurfs, rather heelishly, then attack the ladies. All of this somehow winds up in a 4 way chickenfight that you will just haved to see (on the dvd) to understand. Kash is out and single-handedly annihilates the Smurfs, resulting in their unceremonious elimination. Fitchett takes out Silver with a tope, allowing Rachel and Jessica to sneak in and rollup Masters and Sky Ryder. Rachel and Jessica's Egg-cellent Tag Team (there I said it) are the new ACW Tag Team Champions.

As the new Tag Team champions are celebrating in the ring, JT LaMotta makes the rude interruption, ostensibly seeking a tag team lesson from the champs. After his lewd request is soundly rebuffed, LaMotta proceeds to run down RaJett and women in general. Thankfully Skyler Skelly attacks and the next match is underway.
Match #5 -- JT LaMotta vs. Skyler Skelly
LaMotta keeps a running verbal battle going with RaJett (up in the announcer's booth) throughout this match, perhaps to help disguise that fact the he and Skelly use a half dozen indie finishers each to try and put away the other. In the end it's an old fashioned tope atomico (swanton bomb) off the top rope that finishes LaMotta. As Skyler celibrates LaMotta quietly slinks away.

Match #6 -- German Blood Match
Slim Sexy vs. High Roller Hayze
Barry (our illustrious ring announcer) informs us that this is only the second time in the last 40 years that a German Blood match has been held in the United States. The object of a German Blood match is to completely soak a towel in your opponents blood. Both Hayze and Sexy are out, each carrying a dish cloth sized white towel. Hayze finds a long chain under the ring. Chain shot by Hayze and Sexy is already bleeding. Chairs, wrenches, and a pair of handcuffs are all used as weapons. Each man will periodically retrieve his towel and wipe blood off the others head (soaking the towel). At one point the referee stops Hayze from doing this, telling him he is using the wrong towel. Hayze kicks him (the referee) in the stomach. Sexy gets Hayze in big trouble in the corner. Amanda Foxx is out to help Hayze. Reverse Death Valley Bomb and that's it for Amanda. Sexy uses the chain to secure Hayze in the tree of woe, then wraps it around Hayze's neck. From the outside Sexy chokes Hayze into unconsciousness. The referee calls for the bell. Since Hayze is unable to continue Sexy is declared the winner. Hayze doesn't want to stop though. Just Willie has to come out and calm Sexy down.

** INTERMISSION **
Back from the intermission, the ever facund Barry announces that during the second half of this show, he will be presenting the ACW 2010 awards (as voted on by you - the fans) to the winning individuals.
First up is the award for the Comeback Wrestler of the Year. The winner is Shawn Vexx but he is never announced. Darin Childs is out and knocks the award out of Barry's hand, breaking it. Vexx is out now as well and a fight is on. So on to the next match.
Match #7 -- Triple Threat Elimination Match for the ACW Heavyweight Championship
Darin Childs vs. Shawn Vexx vs. (c) Matthew Palmer
Childs and Vexx are out fighting amongst the crowd. Palmer makes his first appearance standing on the second floor railing. Palmer drops from the second floor onto his opponents. Now it's a triple threat. Once again, the indie finishers rear their heads. Now the referee is down. Childs has a cover on Vexx but there's no referee. Wait... McLovin (Jeff the Ref) is here to make the count. "One... two... F@#k you!" shouts McLovin while giving Childs the finger. Dramatic, even ballsy by McLovin but not real smart. Brainbuster for McLovin. With Childs distracted, Vexx sneaks in and rolls him up for the elimination. Of course, this brings out the Children of Pain (Wolfe, Silver, Sky Ryder) who along with Childs put a beatdown on Vexx and Palmer. Ever vigilant, (except for that whole beatdown thing) the referee starts a 10 count. Although battered and beaten, both Vexx and Palmer make it to their feet. The match continues. Vexx has the advantage but Palmer is kicking out of every pin attempt. The Snapshot turns things back around for Palmer. Snapmare piledriver (I have no idea what else to call this move) puts Vexx down for the count. Big victory for Palmer in his first title defense.

It is time for the next award. This one is for the 2010 Match of the Year. The winner is (as it should be) ACH vs. Akira Tozawa from Beyond Good and Evil - (October 10, 2010). ACH and Tozawa make their way to the ring and graciously accept the award plaque.
Match #8 -- Tag Team Match
The Rush Hour Double Dragons: ACH & Akira Tozawa vs. The Submission Squad: Gary Jay & Davey Vega
Yes, Barry introduced ACH and Tozawa as the Rush Hour Double Dragons. ACH and Gary Jay start the match. Gary Jay is running his mouth big time. ACH ends up slapping the taste right outta there and the time for talk is over. Gary Jay shows he can keep up with ACH on the mat. The Submission Squad manages to survive the early barrage from ACH and Tozawa. Some liberal doubleteams give the Submission Squad control and they take full advantage. ACH is taking a beating while Tozawa is fuming on the apron. Finally, hot tag to Tozawa and we're off and running into nearfall after nearfall. Good saves made by both sides. It's a hot finish as Tozawa pins Gary Jay with a Capture German Suplex hold while ACH fends off Davey Vega.

Postmatch, ACH wants a rematch of the MOTY with Tozawa. Akira wants a shot at ACH's U-30 title. As the Rush Hour Double Dragons face off Vega and Gary Jay attack from behind. They want a shot(s) at the title as well. So it's set. April 17th 2011 at the Mohawk in Austin. It's a Fatal Four Way for the U-30 title.
In a surprising development, Amanda Foxx wins the ACW Rookie of the Year award. I didn't think the fans would vote for her but hey... she deserves it.
Match #9 -- ACW American Joshi Championship Match
Amanda Foxx vs. (c) Lady Poison
Foxx literally spends the first part of this match hiding from Lady Poison. Once Foxx manages to take control of the match, she stretches Poison quite nicely. She even breaks out the bow-and-arrow. More fun is the double hammer with cruceta submission that Lady Poison somehow fights out of. After trading big forearm shots, Lady Poison rolls through a O'Connor rollup into a back bridge, leaving herself in position for the Poison Kiss. That's it for Amanda.

The last award to be presented is for the Tag Team of the Year. And the winner is... Evan Gelistico and Pierre Abernathy. And would you believe it, they just happen to be up next in the main event.
Main Event -- Tag Team Match
The Submission Squad: Evan Gelistico & Pierre Abernathy vs. "Showtime" Scot Summers & Masada
This is going to be a wild one. As Summers and Evan Gelistico take the fight to the outside. Masada beheads Abernathy with a wicked lariat. Summers is bleeding. Masada takes a stroll out to the parking lot and comes back with a couple of wooden screen doors. After laying them against the ring, Masada takes a broken bottle to Abernathy's forehead. Pierre's face is covered in blood. Evan Gelistico sets up a screen door in the corner of the ring. Summers attempts a spear but Evan Gelistico sidesteps sending Summers crashing through. The fight heads outside the ring again with the combatants using broken boards and chairs as weapons. The ring is filling up with debris. It's in the middle of all this that a tag match breaks out. After a few minutes of a perfunctory tag match we get back to the mayhem. The second screen door is set up and ready. Pierre Abernathy has a crimson mask from hell It's a 4.5 on the Muta Scale. This time Summers connects with the spear - and it's Abernathy (and Summers) crashing through the door. Abernathy looks to be legitimately hurt here. Masada ends the match with a rollup on Evan Gelistico.

Another strong showing from ACW. I'm already looking forward to the April 17 event in Austin.
